Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao, Singapore 2

On February 25, 2008, Linda and I went back to Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao. We had really enjoyed it the day before and its convenience before our flight later that day was a factor. 

Crystal Jade Jiang Nan Cuisine, Singapore

On February 24, 2008, Jerry, Kim, Linda and I dined at Crystal Jade Jiang Nan Cuisine. This restaurant is more upscale than most of the restaurants in the Crystal Jade group and specializes in Shanghai cuisine.

Singapore food stalls

Linda and I arrived in Singapore in the early evening of February 22, 2008. After checking into the Marina Mandarin Hotel, we went out onto the nearby Esplanade, next to the Performing Arts Center, to the food stalls.

On February 24, 2008 Linda and I had lunch in this restaurant on the second floor of the Marina Square Shopping Center, just below the food courts.

Hua Ting, Singapore

On February 23, 2008, Mary, Frances, Linda and I dined at Hua Ting in the Orchard Hotel in Singapore. This Cantonese restaurant has won prizes and many favorable reviews.

Moyo Island, Sumbawa, Indonesia

(February, 2007) Amanwana. Ed Tuttle, the great Aman architech, did not participate in the design of this Aman because there is only one building which houses the dining room and kitchen. Each of the dozen or so rooms is in a tent. We doubt Ed does tents. The tents, however, are quite luxurious, with a small porch, large bedroom/living area and the dressing room bathroom idea from the other Amans.

Singapore

(February-March 2008) For us, Raffles Hotel in Singapore has always held great allure, so naturally we decided to stay there. Since we were using Singapore as our hub, we spent a few nights there upon arrival from Nice and then four nights before our departure back to Nice.

Cambodia (Phnom Penh)

(February, 2007)  Phnom Penh. This capital city is bustling and bursting with energy as is so much of Southeast Asia. They are nowhere near as far ahead as Hanoi for instance, but then they didn’t really start until the civil war ended a few years ago.

Java

(February, 2007) Amanjiwa. This resort rivals Amankila as far as beauty, service and comfort go. It was also designed by Ed Tuttle, with all his signature touches, but here he has borrowed a style from Borobudur which is visible in the background. Many people believe this is his greatest Amna achievement.

Bali

(February, 2007) Amankila. It just doesn’t get any better than this. The hotel is absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. The service is friendly and there is not a wrong note anywhere. The main buildings are covered, but don’t have four walls, leaving one side open to the views down to the pool and then the sea.
